Generation Four: Chapter 11

Having mom living with me has been wonderful. She is great with Drake. She feeds him, reads to him, plays with him, and helps him reach milestones.

With Drake in such good hands, with mom, I have had time to spend with all the animals.

And reopen my vet clinic. One of the first things I did was hire my cousin and best friend, Lisa.

She is also pregnant with her second child.

It has been great having another vet to clean and craft medical treats.

Which means I can focus on treating animals.

The vet clinic currently has 3.5 stars. I am committed to getting it to be a 5 star clinic.

When the cow fair came to Finchwick, I entered Daisy.

As well as one of the bottles of her milk.

Daisy won third place and her milk second place. I personally think we were robbed as she was by far the best cow at the fair.

One afternoon, I got a call from Caroline. She found a ring in her girlfriend Juliette’s bag and wondered if she should say yes. I am not really sure why she called me, but I told her to say yes.

She immediately agreed with me and said she was going to say yes when Juliette asked.

A few months later, we headed to Tartosa for Caroline’s wedding. Lisa’s son Lukas was the ring bearer and our brother Charles (Caroline’s twin) was the Sim of Honor.

The wedding was beautiful and I have never seen Caroline look happier.

Caroline shared the news that both she and Juliette were pregnant. They decided to both have a science baby and both experience pregnancy together.

The reception came to an early end when Charles wife went into labor.

He called later to let mom and I know that he had a son named Ernest, after the author Ernest Hemingway.

While in Tartosa, mom and I visited the cemetery to place dad’s grave.

After we got home, I went in for an ultrasound and found out I am having another baby boy. Once again, I have the perfect name picked out.

Now that I am in my third trimester I decided to take a break from running the vet clinic. I have been spending more time with Drake. Mom has been the one here for most of his milestones, so I was excited when I witnessed him roll over to his back for the first time.

When Drake is napping, I spend time with the animals.

Sadly, the grim reaper came for one of my roosters.

Mom and I have been capturing a ton of photos of Drake. He is so cute.

The walls are quickly filling up with photos.

He has also been reaching milestone after milestone.

Now that Drake can sit up, mom has been trying out different baby foods. So far he loves peas, hates carrots, and is unsure about mango. Drake also learned how to grasp things with his fingers.

Which means he can now try finger food too.

Mom and I were both thrilled when he finally slept through the night.

One afternoon, Lisa stopped by with a big surprise.

Apparently, one afternoon while Dillon was out exploring he went to visit Lisa’s new cat Kitty.

That visit resulted in one of the cutest kittens I have ever seen.

Lisa already has three cats and didn’t really want a fourth. I immediately agreed to take the kitten. I decided to name him Devon after the cat breed Devon Rex.

Dillon is a great daddy cat and clearly loves his son.

Bentley gets along great with Devon and the two are always playing.

It turns out that Devon is a very mischievous cat and loves getting into things. I recently caught him playing in trash outside the chick coop.

When I told him not to play in the trash he just gave me this look.

Then one afternoon Drake had a huge blowout.

Mom went to give him a bath while I cleaned up the mess on the floor. I went to get the mop and when I came back found Devon drinking from the puddle. I told him not to drink from puddles – especially those that come from a diaper blowout.

Just then the baby gave me a swift kick to the bladder, resulting in a bladder failure of my own.

I look down and find Devon drinking from my pee puddle.

The smell from both Drake’s blowout and my bladder failure combined with seeing Devon drink from the puddles had me ready to throw up.

I gave Devon another lecture about drinking from puddles and fortunately, he learned not to do that anymore.

With my due date right around the corner, I have been spending as much time with the animals as possible. I know that once the baby arrives I will be really busy and might not have as much time for them as I would like.

One morning, Drake used his crib bars to pull himself up and stand for the first time.

Just in time for Drake’s birthday. We also celebrated my niece Amaya’s birthday. I can’t believe she is a young adult already.

I think Drake is such an adorable toddler.

He immediately started babbling with his cousin Jacob.

The party ended in a near disaster. Lisa apparently had a pregnancy craving and decided to make some grilled cheese. Unfortunately she started the kitchen on fire. I managed to successfully put the fire out.

But the excitement caused me to go into labor.

I am one again having a home birth, only this time mom will be by my side.

It has been great having her here giving me words of encouragement and holding me when I am having bad contractions.

“It’s time,” I said. “I need to start pushing.”

A few moments later, mom was handing me a beautiful baby boy.

“What’s his name?” mom asked.

“I decided to name him Dane, after the Great Dane dog breed,” I said.

No wheel spins this time.
